With a meat thermometer, you can be confident that you are always serving the best food possible. This way you can adjust the cooking time and temperature if necessary.Īdditionally, a meat thermometer makes it easier to determine when the food is done so you do not end up with dry, overcooked food. These thermometers allow you to periodically monitor the internal temperature of the food as it cooks. To get better results we recommend checking your food with a digital meat thermometer. Why a Digital Meat Thermometer is Important when using a Conversion Charts For some recipes, you may even be able to eliminate the oil altogether. Since air fryers require less oil than ovens, you'll want to reduce the amount of oil or fat in the recipe. You can also adjust the oil and fat content of your recipe when converting from oven to air fryer. For example, if the oven recipe calls for cooking at 350☏ for 30 minutes, you'll want to reduce the air fryer temperature to 325☏/(160☌) and reduce the cooking time by 25% (24 mins). Something to note is that air fryers cook food faster than ovens, so you'll want to reduce the cooking time. Always read the recipe carefully before attempting to convert. Some recipes may be too moist or contain too much fat to be air fried. When using this conversion chart, it is important to note that not all recipes are suitable for air frying. In the original draft of the script, that is how the entire movie ends - the voiceover of the letter. "He wrote that letter and then he wrote the script. "That was the very first thing that Vince Gilligan wrote when he wrote the script," Paul told TV Guide at the El Camino press junket in Los Angeles. Saving Brock from becoming Todd's ( Jesse Plemons) next victim was essentially the only thing keeping Jesse going during his imprisonment at the white supremacist compound. We all know how important Andrea's (Emily Rios) son, Brock (Ian Posada), was to Jesse throughout Breaking Bad. Github has GraphQL API that allows you to query and perform operations against repositories, users, issues, etc. I have used GitHub to learn & test GraphQL queries against my GitHub account. In GraphQL, the HTTP verb is predominantly POST but there can be implementations where Query & Variables are sent in URL encoded query parameters in the URL. There can also be variables in a query which makes it more powerful and dynamic. When a HTTP GraphQL request is made with a query, the GraphQL server parses the query and respond back with data usually in a specific JSON format. The clothes worn by the Maya made a strong statement about their importance. Feathers were used to make headdresses, belts, and other adornments, while animal skins were used to make cloaks, shoes, and other items of clothing. They wove cotton into cloth using a backstrap loom, and decorated it with dyed thread, embroidery, and tassels. The Maya people used a variety of natural materials to make their clothes, including cotton, feathers, and animal skins. Their bottom is usually flared, and they are typically sleeveless. A huapile is a blouse or skirt made of lightweight cotton. The most traditional Mayan clothing items, particularly the huapiles, stand out for their simplicity. Woven textiles covered a variety of spiritually significant objects, including ritual tables, candles, and even fireworks. The Maya’s textile arts are one of the most distinctive aspects of their culture. Their weaving was very intricate and detailed, and they produced a wide variety of items, including clothing, blankets, and tapestries. They used a variety of materials, including cotton, wool, and feathers. The Mayans started weaving around 2000 BCE. After their births, the heads of the most powerful children, such as priests and nobles, were molded between two boards. The skull, as seen in the image below, is typically wrapped or bound between two boards to form an elongated conical shape. The practice of flattening the skull entails binding the infant’s head in a circle. Upper classes are likely to have fine cotton thread, while lower classes are likely to have rougher thread made from the fibers of Agave plants or tree bark. Weaving cloth is thought to have been accomplished in a variety of ways by the Maya. Maria Elena has continued to preserve this weaving tradition through her organization, Hermanas Lu’um Cooperative. Her mother, a member of the Oxchuc, a Maya Tzeltal community, is said to be one of the last surviving indigenous weavers. Maria Elena Lowe was born in the Mexican state of Chiapas and grew up as a member of the grasshopper clan. The traditional huipile has been commercialized in recent centuries due to Western trade and the introduction of machine looms and synthetic dyes. Mayan women weave intricate and precise designs to convey the complex cultures and religions of the Maya people, as well as core values. Weaving has historically been used by Mayan women as a means of demonstrating cultural values through the demonstration of technical skills and creativity. Unfortunately, the Maya civilization was destroyed by the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century and much of their textile traditions were lost. The Maya were skilled weavers and their textiles were highly prized by the people of Mesoamerica. Their exquisite fabrics were used to make clothing, blankets, towels, and other items. The Maya created a wide variety of textile designs, including geometric patterns, scenes from nature, and depictions of Maya gods and heroes. They dyed their fabric using a variety of natural dyes, including those made from plants, insects, and minerals. The Maya used a variety of materials to make their cloth, including cotton, animal hair, and tree bark. This type of loom allowed the weaver to create very long pieces of fabric. The Maya also used a back-strap loom, in which the fabric was attached to a strap that was worn around the weaver’s waist. The most common method was to weave the fabric on a loom. The ancient Maya wove cloth using a variety of techniques. Erik Spiekermann's Meta is considered to be a Helvetica with personality, while Frutiger was an instant bestseller when introduced in 1977. Humanist typographers like Edward Johnston softened this approach by introducing width variation and conceding that, for instance, an O did not necessarily have to be a perfect circle and could be more readable and efficient as a narrower oval.Īfter his arrest, Renner fled to Switzerland where he influenced Swiss modernism, a movement that produced the mightiest sans-serif of them all: Helvetica. Renner and later Jan Tschichold believed that clean, efficient typefaces could be engineered using the basic building blocks of geometry – circles, triangles and squares. Sans-serif Johnston is full of genius touches The famous Hope poster promoting Barack Obama uses one of the world's most popular sans-serifs: Gotham. Designers find them particularly useful for posters, signs and digital screens. They’re popular in a corporate context, often regarded as the typefaces of ‘big tech’. The absence of narrow and fiddly serifs mean they function better on screens, making them excellent for websites, apps and on-screen identities. Originally designed for display purposes, sans-serif typefaces have been refined to work well as body copy and other layout elements such as captions and annotations. In and of itself, the combat system is great fun, but as soon as you’re out of that first-person view and trying to dodge or reposition yourself, things start to feel very cumbersome. While the two girls you play as use the Camera Obscura, the detective Choshiro Kirishima uses a magical torch that makes combat a little faster and more action-oriented. The audio cues and the way you can chain your shots together feels super tactile and satisfying, and it deftly builds suspense by rewarding you for daring to let the ghosts get as close as possible.Įach character has their own set of upgrades for the camera, which include the improvement of basic stats like power and camera recharge time, as well as powerful abilities that use the ‘Spirit Energy’ you accrue in battle. The closer a ghost gets to you, the more damage you do, with the highest damage being reserved for ‘Fatal Frame’ shots, which you need to snap just as the ghost is about to grab you. In combat, you look through the lens of the camera in a first-person perspective, and ‘charge up’ your shots by keeping your focus on the approaching ghosts. You fight vengeful ‘wraiths’ using the Camera Obscura, a spirit camera capable of not only snapping but banishing spirits. Quite simply, Mask of The Lunar Eclipse fails to put the series’ best foot forward to a modern audience.īut let’s start with that combat, one of the game’s strongest points. But it’s constantly battling against awful controls, painfully slow pace (not in the artful ‘slow burn’ kind of way), and an utter excess of spectral encounters that are about as persistent and scary as a janky ghost train at an 80s fairground. One of the most novel combat systems in a horror game in the form of photographing ghosts to death (or giving them the nudge beyond death and into the afterlife proper)? Check. It has the right elements for sure: a creepy ‘J-curse’ story charting three amnesiac characters as they return to an abandoned sanatorium island where a disastrous folk ritual took place? Check. RELATED: 10 Best PS2 Horror Games, Ranked The re-release of the 2007 Wii game Mask of The Lunar Eclipse (or Fatal Frame 4) follows on from the 2021 re-release of Maiden of Black Water (aka Fatal Frame 5), presumably to get a feel for whether there’s interest in giving the series a proper revival.Īs someone who sees the original trilogy as some of the most giddily scary games ever released, I’d love to see that happen, so it torments me to say that Mask of the Lunar Eclipse really doesn’t showcase the series at its very best. In recent years however, Koei Tecmo has been giving the venerable horror series an oddly ordered cross-platform renaissance. The thing is, my devotion is based on the excellent PlayStation 2 trilogy released between 20, and as someone who never owned a Wii or Wii U, I missed out on the Nintendo-exclusive later entries. I’m a devotee to the Church of Fatal Frame (or Project Zero, as it was oddly called in Europe, because–I dunno–Europeans don’t like that sweet, sweet alliteration?).
